We all have certain role models we look up to – whether they are public figures or people who are more intimately involved in our lives. Either way, we all aspire to be mentally strong women.

If you are, or if you are trying to be more like a mentally strong woman who knows how to handle her shit, read on:

Slow down and retreat

It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of everyday life. However, it’s important to be able to remove yourself from all of the craziness and take some time for yourself. Mentally strong women recognize the importance of self-care. If you’re constantly stressed, you’ll never put your best self forth.

“It’s not me, it’s you”

Recognize that not everyone is out to get you. People have their bad days, and when they do, they might take it out on you. Just remember, this isn’t a reflection of who you are – it’s a reflection of who they are. Try and keep this in mind when you encounter a negative person.

Don’t get tangled in every little mistake

It can be discouraging to continuously make mistakes. However, keep in mind that they will only make you stronger. You will learn from every single error you make – and now you’ll know how to avoid them in the future.

Balance is key

This is much easier said than done. However, if you lead a life that prioritizes balance, you’ll find yourself more recharged, at peace and ready to take on each day. This may include eating a proportional diet, getting the right amount of sleep, spending the appropriate amount of time on a task, etc.

Appreciate what’s in front of you

Focusing on the past will get you nowhere. Instead, concentrate on the “here and now.” If you devote all of your energy and attention to the present, you’ll feel less overwhelmed and much more positive.

You’ll never know unless you try

Trial and error will help prepare you for the future. Mentally tough women aren’t afraid of failure or taking risks – they’ll only make them stronger.

Acknowledge a helping hand

Sometimes, one of the hardest things to do is to ask for help. Some people might think it makes them appear vulnerable – but not strong women. They’re able to admit when they need a second opinion or another pair of eyes/hands. It shows that you’re humble and that you understand your own shortcomings.
